We’ve all got big dreams but a very few can boast they’ve achieved them. First step toward success is to transform dreams into goals. Unfortunately, too many of us fall into one of the pitfalls of success killing habits. Here are the top five reasons people fail to achieve their goals –steer clear of them!
#5 Indecisiveness
To get ahead in business – or any aspect of life – you have to know what you want and make a clear decision to go for it. Too often, people fail to achieve goals because they have not clearly identified them. There is great power in making a deliberate and confident decision. Decide what you want, decide that you’re worth it, and decide that you will go after it with all the power you can muster.
#4 Thinking Small
A goal needs to be big enough to challenge you. Otherwise there is no drive or excitement. Set your goals high enough to motivate you, and always be willing to “push the envelope” a little. Remember, success lies outside your comfort zone.
#3 Not Following Through
Many people have great ideas and begin working toward them; but somewhere along the way they lose interest. Success requires us to doggedly stick with a project to the end. If we hop around from one goal to the next, it’s doubtful we’ll ever achieve any of them. Without strong motivation, it is exponentially hard to follow through and put in the time and energy necessary to succeed. This is why it’s imperative that your goals are things you REALLY want, and not simply things that are expected of you, or that others find worthwhile.
#2 Fear
Fear is the godfather of all success killers – it’s the difference between love and loneliness, abundance and poverty, and success and failure. In fact, so many people fear of failure that they don’t even start pursuing their dreams. It does not mean we don’t have to be fearless to succeed. Everyone has fears, but we must learn to work through them in order to achieve any level of success.
#1 Mindset
If you believe that to get richer you just have to work harder, think again. Do you really think that Wall Street brokers work harder than coal miners?! If hard work made people rich every farm laborer in the country would be a tycoon. But if hard work is not the answer…what is? The difference between the haves and have-nots is 100% Mindset. To create wealth you must apply imagination to your work in a practical way.
